Prior to founding "Green Coast Restoration" Daniel Bellante and Pamela Reeder owned and operated "Coastal Revegetation," a firm that specialized in mitigation and construction of vegetated shorelines.
Together, they have over 40 years of experience in the creation, restoration, and enhancement of Dune and Coastal Ecosystems. In their years of work, they created or restored over a hundred thousand acres of Environmentally sensitive lands all over the southern half of Florida and the Keys.
In 1982 Daniel joined his friend Pamela Reeder, who had recently founded the Environmental Restoration company Coastal Revegetation, as Partner and Vice President.

He served as Project Director and Plan Designer and developed the company's innovative and cost effective field operations.
He designed and drafted the plans for their varied projects . He coordinated operations and logistics with other contractors and associates locally and across the whole southern half of the State.
After 30 years in the business, Daniel and his partner Pamela decided to deactivate the day to day operations of Coastal Revegetation and reopen as Green Coast Consulting and Restoration. Their new focus would be on Dune and Coastal Wetland Restoration.
IN the 1970's Daniel taught History, Art History, and Design at Broward College. He worked for the Colleges' Continuing Education Department in Course and Curriculum development.
Daniel operated several enterprises over the years. He founded and directed "Studio Seven", which was a popular Art and Lecture Center in Ft. Lauderdale.
Daniel learned the art of landscape design while working his way through College. Over the years he consulted and worked with "Decks and Gardens;" a company specializing in Native drought resistant landscaping and backyard renovations.
Daniel led groups of students on European Art Explorations and Study Sessions to Paris, London and Florence.
This was a part of a Lecture Series that he conducted in museums and galleries all over South Florida.

Pamela graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas and Florida Atlantic University with a Masters Degree in Marine Biology. Her research on the Florida Spiny Lobster was published while she was still in graduate school . As a graduate assistant in the Biology department at Florida Atlantic University, she was credited on a series of research papers published in prestigious University Journals, by her Major Professor.
After graduating with her Masters Degree , she worked for the South Florida Water Management District as a Field Research Biologist working from air boats and helicopters in the Everglades. She was the very first Female Field Biologist ever hired at the Water Management District . Some of the innovative research she and her Supervisor worked on was published in elite Biology Journals.
She was then awarded a grant to research Mangrove Mitigation and to implement a Mangrove Restoration Plan at the Boca Marina development site .This was a cutting edge and highly successful project . Soon after that ,Pamela founded Coastal Re-vegetation: a company specializing in Environmental Mitigation and Restoration for Dunes, Coastal Shorelines, and Freshwater Wetlands.
Pamela is a genuine pioneer and innovator in the field of Environmental Restoration. She quickly became the leading "Go to Expert," in her field, consulting with Coastal Engineers, Landscape Architects, and Environmental Agencies. Our consultation is a
two part process:
We are available to meet you for an onsite consultation to discuss the repair or restoration of your Dune or Shoreline property.
Our preferred consultation method is a two part process that includes a meeting at your Property and a meeting at our Office to view a properly restored property.
We have found that the complex nature of the restoration process is best understood by contrasting before and after properties.
In either case, we will conduct a thorough inspection, document with photos, and our Marine Biologist will provide a written Threat Assessment Report within 48 hours.
Consultation and Inspection Fee: $300.00.
Initial Written
Assessment
We will determine the current health of your Dune or Shoreline property by conducting a complete vegetative survey to determine the properties current level of biodiversity.
We will then evaluate the degree of Habitat degradation caused by Invasive species infestation, and other possible threat factors.
We will conduct a Threat Assessment to determine the degree to which your property is vulnerable to loss as a result of Erosion from storms and other high water events.
If desired, after your review of our written assessment, we can provide a a detailed Mitigation plan and Proposal for the repair or restoration work to be done.
The fee for the Consultation and Inspection will be deducted from the Contract price if you choose our company to do your Repair or Restoration project.
Project Costs:
A general overview and range of costs.
Though each property is unique and requires a customized plan to meet specific needs; here we will try to provide some idea of the process for arriving at fair price estimates.
Prices vary depending on a number of factors:
A newly built Dune slope with fresh clean sand and no Invasive species or overgrown Seagrapes to be removed is the least expensive type of Restoration project.
An existing Dune slope with as much as 25% of the slope covered with Invasive species and overgrown Seagrapes to be removed requires much more labor and therefore this kind of project will cost more.
An existing Dune slope with 50% of the slope overrun with deeply rooted invasive species and widely overgrown Seagrapes reaching heights of 6 feet or more will cost significantly more because of the dramatic increase in labor required.
Much of the difference in cost for projects has to do with the skilled hand labor required to selectively cut and treat the unwanted invasives, while at the same time identifying and saving the existing beneficial Native species.
Often the Invasive species are so deeply rooted, have spread so far, and have grown so tall ( to heights of 6-8-10 feet) that the cubic feet of material to be removed from the site is massive. This raises the cost significantly.
In addition, the access to the site is another cost factor. The more difficult the access the more labor is required.
Another cost factor is the size and variety of the Native Dune species to be used for the project.
Most often a high quality liner or 2" size plant is recommended. These plants, when properly planted are fast growers and normally double in size in the first month or so.
In some cases, a larger size plant may be recommended. For example, a Dune that has suffered from severe erosion may need a larger plant with a bigger root system to help stabilize the Dune and accelerate the restoration process.
In addition, there are Dune plants that are more rare and not as readily available. These plants generally cost more but will add to the biodiversity of the Dune Habitat as well as creating a more colorful and attractive Beachfront Garden.
All of our projects offer long range monitoring for long term sustainability. We will monitor the project quarterly and provide written reports for the first year.
We also offer and recommend, a quarterly Maintenance Program for projects that involved significant Invasive plant removal. Invasives can be very persistent and may require follow up treatments for the very critical first year of restoration.
We offer 1, 2, and 3 year contracts for this additional work.
Starting now, and with each year that passes, the cost of doing nothing to preserve, protect, and restore your Beach front grows dramatically! Since this is part of your Deeded Property the responsibility for the costs would be to the homeowner..
Each year storms grow stronger, high tides get higher, and water levels rise faster. The result is more damaging erosion and loss of your Dune and Beach.
Each year, and just as dangerous to your Beach front, there may be a rapid spread of Invasive plant species across your Dune. This infestation overwhelms the Native Dune ecosystem and leads to a steady degradation of the natural Dune. As a healthy Dune is weakened by the spread of these noxious plants, it loses its ability to accrue sand and build itself into a natural defense against erosion.
If nothing is done, this degradation increases each year with the aggressive Invasives growing by 20 to 30%.
This cycle continues year after year. And each year your Dune grows weaker and your Beachfront property becomes more vulnerable to a major loss.
Some of what is lost:
The Cost of Doing Something Now:
For the cost of tiling your lobby, landscaping your front yard, or paving your driveway, Green Coast Restoration can transform your Beachfront backyard into a healthy and sustainable ecosystem that will grow and last.
This one time cost incurred now, will quickly pay dividends in the future by increasing your property value and at the same time helping to save the environment.
The sooner you take action the less you will pay in the long run.
We encourage you to do something Now. We can help you with cost effective plans and solutions tailored to your needs.
