A typical Beach property where a Natural Dune is overun with Exotic/Invasive pest species. These noxious non-native plants overwhelm the essential Native Habitat and prevent the growth of a resilient and sustainable Dune system.
A properly restored Dune will enable a richly diverse Native Habitat to develop. A foot of sand per year can be Banked and the Dune will form a natural long lasting defense against Erosion.
After Exotic/Invasive weeds have been removed and Native plants have been identified and preserved. Then Seaoats and other Dune species were planted and a beautiful, colorful, and sustainable natural ecosystem has been created.
Persistent severe erosion sometimes necessitates other measures. With an emergency permit from FDEP a Seawall is installed; extra sand is trucked in and a new Dune Slope is created.
The newly prepared Dune Slope is planted with new Seaoats and other Native species. The plants are hand watered, fertilized, and cared for over the important 3 month establishment period.
The newly restored Dune after only 3 months.
A healthy and sustainable Ecosystem is being established.
A "Blowout" caused by upland water runoff from a major pool leak. Sand and plants have washed out leaving a giant hole in the Dune and leaving the whole Dune system in jeopardy.
Quick emergency repairs are required. Working by hand, Our Crew has moved the washed out sand up off the Beach into the breach and then replanted with Native Sea-oats.
The Blowout Repair after only two months. Healthy and well established Dune plants are now thriving.
A Dune cleared of Exotic/Invasive plants and newly planted with Sea-oats and other Native vegetation.
The newly planted Dune Two months after planting.
The restored Dune after only Six months. A well established, diverse. and sustainable Dune Ecosystem, rich in diversity and already re building itself into a dynamic and growing Native Dune Habitat.
